Healing the Heart

Healing the Heart

Healing Heart Disease & High Blood Pressure

Poor lifestyle is the overriding health problem linked to elevated risk for many chronic diseases, including, but not limited to, heart disease obesity, Type II Diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Studies have shown that one of the easiest ways to improve health is to improve diet. Along with loads of valuable information, this book provides several meal plans to help start you on your way to a healthier life.

About the Book

Poor lifestyle is the overriding health problem linked to elevated risk for many chronic diseases, including, but not limited to, heart disease, obesity, Type II Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular disease and cancer. All of these come with an array of health consequences. These diseases are financially and socially taxing for both the Australian population and my good ole country of origin, America. We are spending 3 billion a year on health care!

Since 2000, heart disease has been the leading cause of death followed by Cerebrovascular Disease (stroke). Today, a major concern for health professionals is the increasing number of people diagnosed with Type II Diabetes (See Defeating Diabetes). This disease has leapt from 9th place in 2000 to 6th place in 2009.

Although 29.8% of deaths in 2009 were caused by cancers, the Cancer Council of Australia believes that the 13,000 lifestyle-related cancer deaths every year are preventable. (Watch for my book on Beating Breast Cancer coming soon!) They pinpoint smoking, poor diet, alcohol, insufficient exercise, being overweight and excessive sun exposure as poor lifestyle choices, and say that these can be changed to minimise the risk of developing cancer.
